Most garage door faults can wait until morning, and we will tell you so rather than charging you for an overnight visit you do not need. Two situations cannot. The first is a door stuck open, because your garage is the least secure part of the house and it is often the way into the house itself. The second is a door stuck shut with a vehicle behind it, when somebody has to be somewhere.
If either of those applies, call. If neither does, and the door is simply noisy or slow or sitting shut and unusable, the sensible answer is a scheduled visit at normal rates. We would rather book you in for tomorrow than take advantage of the fact that you called at midnight.
Pull the emergency release cord if the door is jammed part way, so the opener cannot try again and make the damage worse. Keep vehicles, people and especially children out from under a door that is stuck in the air, because a door held by a compromised spring or a single cable can come down without warning.
If the door is stuck open and you are waiting, do not leave the connecting door to the house unlocked, and move anything obviously valuable out of sight from the driveway. If a car has hit the door, do not try to drive it out through the wreckage. Tell us on the phone what happened and what you can see, and we will tell you what to touch and what to leave.
